Celebrating 100 years of United Airlines.
Commemorating 100 years of United Airlines, this Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner features a bold centennial callout on the fuselage. Accompanying their modern livery design, it makes for a subtle addition to their fleet, with the iconic blue globe on the tail. Originally founded by Walter T. Varney as Varney Airlines on April 6th, 1926, the United Airlines name was officially adopted in 1931 as part an antitrust guided split. Separated into Varney Airlines and Varney Speed Lines (which became Continental) in the 1930s, United is the oldest American airline. Reuniting 80 years later, Continental and United officially merged in 2010 to form the second-largest fleet of aircraft in the world.

History and Specifications:
First flown on September 17th, 2013, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner is the second-largest aircraft of this type. Longer than the 787-8 but shorter than the 787-10 variant, it features two Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 or General Electric Genx-1B engines and 50% composite-by-weight construction. Boasting more than 25% decreased fuel consumption over the aircraft it replaces, the 787-9 typically carries 296 passengers onboard. Rated for 8,700 miles of non-stop range, it can reach speeds up to 570 mph and altitudes in excess of 42,000 ft. Completing first commercial flights in 2014 with launch customer Air New Zealand, more than 700 units have been delivered as of 2025. Most popular Dreamliner of the three, hundreds of 787-9s are on order from operators across the globe.
