Words from the owner of Gypsy
My personal pride and joy is my very special 1974 Cessna Skyhawk ll. She’s named Gypsy for two Special reasons. First named after the many WWll B17 Bombers that traveled all over Europe that had the name Gypsy stenciled on their aircraft noses, and second for our daughter who as a little girl and now an adult travels to see friends and visits different places. Originally Gypsy’s were known as travelers moving around from one place to another to find work. Since airplanes traveled to different places like our B17’s and our daughter, we thought that the name Gypsy was appropriate for our airplane. Like the B17’s her nose art decal tells others that she’s a traveler. The Gypsy also has its own personality, authenticity, and tells a story of the hundreds of EAA Young Eagles who flew in her for the first time to inspire many of them to pursue careers in aviation. She has also flown many candidates who received their Private Pilot Certificates, many who have taken their BFR in her, and those who are now professional pilots for our country’s major airlines and private air carrier pilots. Gypsy is well recognized around Florida Airports for her uniqueness in supporting General Aviation as she if often called by her name rather than by her colors or tail number.
