Introduced in 1942 as one of the mainline Naval fighters for the United States, the Grumman F6F Hellcat was designed to be easy to learn, easy to land on a carrier, and still able to outperform its opponents on the battlefield.
Within just two years of service, the type was able to take down 5,156 enemy fighters, achieving an astounding 19 enemy aircraft destroyed down for every combat loss. Across the entire production run, 12,275 were manufactured, all leaving an incredible battlefield legacy that would be difficult to beat. Featuring the livery of VF-6 aboard the USS Intrepid, this display model boasts an authentic paint scheme, etched panel lines, pad printed decals, and rotating propeller.
