History and Specifications:
First derivative of the Boeing 737 MAX lineup, the MAX 8 is designed to replace aging 737-800s. Compared to its predecessor, the MAX 8 features new split wingtips and an extended fuselage, which allows for up to 210 passengers. Powered by two CFM Leap-1B engines, it boasts 14% lower maintenance costs and 20% fuel savings over their predecessors, while being 50% quieter in flight. Cruising at speeds up to 521mph with an official range of 4,000 miles, the aircraft has a maximum altitude of 41,000 ft. Beginning deliveries in 2017, there are now more than 1,600 in active service with operators across the globe. Expected to remain active for decades to come, each aircraft represents a push toward a more sustainable future in air travel.
