XP-82 Twin Mustang PlaneTag®

The North American Aviation P/F-82 Twin Mustang was a long-range, high-altitude escort fighter, produced for the USAAF. The unlikely-looking aircraft, consisting of two mated P-51H fuselages, was built to escort bombers on long-range missions during WWII. However, the war ended before the Twin Mustang could begin to prove itself. It became the last piston-engined fighter ordered into production. The P/F-82 adapted to many different roles, including long-range fighter/escort, attack bomber, and long-range reconnaissance support. They were relied heavily on during the Cold and Korean Wars, but even so, only 272 were manufactured. This PlaneTag was made from the second prototype XP-82, serial #44-83887. Each is an individual piece of art, with variations and imperfections that are not product flaws, they are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. Caution: Not recommended for children under 8 years of age.
