Developed as a cargo transport, the Antonov An-124 is one of the largest aircraft ever to exist. It was designed to transport projects such as the Buran Shuttle Orbiter of the 1980s, which required the capability to mount the project in a completed state. Flying for the first time in 1982, it was officially introduced in 1986 with deliveries over the next decade.

While outshined by its successor An-225, the An-124 is arguably quite impressive with 240 ft of wingspan and 226 ft in length. Intended to carry the production Buran Space Shuttle of the early Soviet space program, the aircraft had mounting positions above its huge wings. Propelled by four Progress D-18T engines which create around 204,000 lbs of combined thrust, it could weight up to 880,000 lbs on takeoff. Altitude ceiling of the jet was 39,000 ft, with a cruising speed of 537 mph.

Though serving just a short life between the mid-1980s and early 2000s several operators, nearly half of the 55 AN-124 models are still in active duty past 2022 for Antonov Airlines. Performing crucial cargo missions around the world, Condors remain one of the most impressive aircraft in the skies of modern day. This Die-Cast version has an accurate Antonov paint scheme, etched panel lines, pad printed decals, deployed or retracted landing gear, and a display stand to show the aircraft in flight. Measures 14”l with a 15” wingspan at 1:200 scale.
