First taking flight in 2016, the A321neo is one of the newest offerings from Airbus, competing with other aircraft of the type such as the Boeing 737 Max. It features a single aisle, a narrow body design with two engines, and a medium range of travel, intended to reduce costs for airlines and allow more aircraft to be purchased. So far, numerous airlines have adopted the jet, with manufacturing slowly ramping up to meet the demand.

The typical A321neo in service has a capacity of 180-220 passengers, with a range of around 4,000 miles. These numbers are with mixed class seating though, as single class capacity is up to 244 passengers and 2 crew members in the cockpit. In order to facilitate the lower cost of flight, the aircraft is powered by two efficient CFM Leap-1A32 engines generating a combined 64,000 lbs of thrust. Altitude ceiling of the jet is 39,800 ft, with a top speed of 544mph and a maximum weight of 206,100 lbs.

While the first orders began in 2011, deliveries did not occur until 2017 at a rate of 100-200 per year ever since. As of late 2023, only 1,153 have been delivered to a total of 88 operators, just barely over 20% of the total 5,422 requested. This Die-Cast version has an accurate Spirit Airlines paint scheme, etched panel lines, pad-printed decals, and detailed landing gear for display. Measures 9”l with a 7” wingspan at 1:200 scale.
