Introduced in the late 1960s, the Boeing 737 is one aircraft that most would be hard pressed to forget.

Introduced in the late 1960s, the Boeing 737 is one aircraft that most would be hard pressed to forget. Developed as a narrow-body, twin engine jet as the successor to the 707 type, it took on quieter, more powerful, and efficient attributes that allowed it to surpass its competition. Even decades into the 21st century, it remains the best-selling airliner, serving thousands of airlines and hundreds of countries since its introduction.

Up to 175 passengers can be seated in the 737-800 variants, with a standard crew of two in the cockpit just like the early models. Unlike the larger 727 airliner, there was no need for an additional member to fill the flight engineer role. Powering the aircraft are a pair of CFM56-7B engines which create around 54,000 lbs of combined thrust on takeoff, permitting an altitude ceiling of 41,000 ft, cruising speed of 517 mph and maximum weight of 174,200 lbs.

Decorated in the green and white livery of Mexicana, this aircraft under registration XA-ASM is one of just a handful in the airline’s fleet. Delivered in 2018, this operator has seen monetary struggles, but is working to establish a safe domestic system for its people. Die-Cast version has an accurate paint scheme, etched panel lines, pad-printed decals, retracted or deployed landing gear, and metal display stand to show the model in flight. Features “deployed” flaps and leading-edge slats on the wings. Measures 7.5”l with a 7” wingspan at 1:200 scale.
