Serving Germany during World War II, the Junkers JU-87 Stuka was a German dive bomber and ground-attack aircraft that was well known for its wailing “Jericho-Trumpet” sirens during a bombing run. The prominent gull wings, spatted undercarriage and huge bombs below the fuselage made it a fearsome symbol of German air-power during the Blitzkrieg. Each Stuka had a 2-man crew onboard that would drop bombs with astonishing accuracy, demonstrating innovative air-brakes for increased time to aim and an automatic pull-up system in case of g-force induced blackout. Although Stukas were very effective against ground and naval targets and were used throughout the war, they proved no match against faster enemy fighters. Used mainly as a low-altitude ground attack aircraft towards the end of the war, this Ju-87 was surrendered at Furth in May, 1945. Die-Cast version features an authentic livery, etched panel lines, printed decals and display stand to show the aircraft in flight. Measures 4”l with a 5.5” wingspan at 1:110 scale.
