History and Specifications:
Introduced in 1993, the C-17 Globemaster III can carry up to 102 troops or 170,900 lbs of cargo on transport missions. Boasting a typical range of 6,200 non-stop miles, it can also be refueled by aircraft such as a KC-135 for extended missions to bolster its radius. Measuring 170ft in wingspan and powered by four F-117-100 engines, it creates a combined 160,000 lbs of thrust on takeoff, with more than enough lift to ascend at almost vertical angles. Capable of 45,000ft in altitude, top speeds over 500mph, and fully loaded takeoff weights in excess of 580,000 lbs, it demonstrates unbelievable kinetic performance.
