Introduced in 1999, the De Havilland Dash 8 Q400 is a short-range propellor-driven commuter aircraft. Receiving the designation “Q” for quiet, it incorporates an advanced noise and vibration suppression system for increased comfort of its passengers. Beginning production at the turn of the 21st century, there are now more than 600 of the 8-400 variant across the globe, with dozens of operators.

 

Carrying up to 90 passengers on a typical flight, the Dash-8-400 model has up to 1,250 miles of range and two crew in the cockpit. Powered by a pair of Pratt & Whitney PW150A engines, the lightweight aircraft has nearly 10,000 hp at it’s disposal, split across two Dowty R408 propellors. Resulting performance includes a cruising speed over 410 mph, altitude ceiling of 27,000 ft, and maximum takeoff weight of 65,200 lbs.

 

Formed as a domestic Canadian service, Porter Airlines is based from Toronto City, with routes to Halifax, Montreal, and Ottawa. Operating 27 of the Dash 8 Q400 and 35 Embraer E-195 aircraft type, with the former providing shorter and lower passenger flights to the public. Die-Cast version has an accurate paint scheme, etched panel lines, pad-printed decals, and detailed landing gear with rolling wheels. Also includes a metal display stand for flight configuration and spinning propellors. Measures 6.5”l with a 5.75” wingspan at 1:200 scale.
