This 1:72 scale Die-Cast Model is replicated after a F/A-18 Hornet “Top Hat” from the 75th sqn. RAAF, from 1990. The F/A-18A A21-29 proudly joined the RAAF fleet in April 1988, serving with distinction. A symbol of leadership, it wore the “Top Hat” and Cane emblem on its tail during its deployment at Clarke Air Base in the Philippines in 1990, marking it as the Commander's personal aircraft. However, in the unpredictable sphere of aerial maneuvers, tragedy struck in August 1990. While executing a practice pairs intercept from RAAF Tindal with A21-42, the two aircraft collided. The pilot of A21-42 tragically lost his life, while the resilient A21-29 managed to touch down safely. This masterpiece boasts an intricately designed canopy, revealing a meticulously pad-printed instrument panel and interior. Comes with an alternative canopy fixed with an actuator for open-position display and a display stand. A deploy-able speed brake and sub-assembled landing gear and doors, capturing the Hornet's dynamic nature. Measures 9.25”l with a 6.25” wingspan.
